iOS 10.2 Dev Beta 1

Release Date: Monday 31st October 2016

Build: 14C5062e

Darwin Kernel Version 16.3.0: Sun Oct 23 20:18:32 PDT 2016; root:xnu-3789.30.76~6\/RELEASE_ARM64

Firmware Version: iBoot-3406.30.8

Please report bugs to bugreport.apple.com (a developer account is not required to do this).

Changes:

Carrier Versions:

  • Verizon: 26.5.2
  • T-Mobile: 26.5.4
  • AT&T: 26.5.3
  • Omnitel: 26.5
  • Three: 26.5
Baseband/Modem Firmware:
  • Intel iPhone 7 Plus: 01.02.11
  • Qualcomm iPhone 7/Plus: 1.31.00
  • iPhone 6s/Plus: 2.40.04
Enhancements/New Features:
  • Notifications no longer take on the hue/color of your wallpaper unless they appear while you're on the home screen.
  • New wallpapers for from iPhone 7 keynote have been added to iPhone 7/Plus.
  • Some home screen wallpapers are no longer dimmed. (Very light wallpapers are not dimmed, but the app names turn black.)
  • Full Unicode 9 emoji support with 72 new emojis.
  • New Preserve Camera settings.
  • Star Ratings can be enabled in Music settings.
  • New ‘Celebration’ Full Screen Effect in Messages. (Sends with a seperate "(Sent with celebration effect)" message to non iOS 10.2 or WatchOS 3.1.1 devices.)
  • New Videos widget.
  • Option to turn off Siri and Voice Control completely in accessibility settings.
  • New Siri introduction screen.
  • New option to sort playlists in Apple Music by Type, Title, and Recently Added.
  • Notification Centre opens into the same view you closed it in. (Scroll depth is also retained for both pages.)
  • "Show Contact Photos" setting for Messages now controls and applies to the photo at the top of conversations. (Option does not exist on iPhone 7 or 4-inch iPhones therefore it is impossible to show the contact photos at the top of conversations on these devices.)
  • The Images section of the details view in iMessage conversations no longer shows stickers from iMessage Apps amongst normal images from the transcript.
  • In Quick Reply, the title appears as the contact or group chat name instead of "Messages".
  • Charging sound effect no longer plays if Keyboard Clicks are turned off (might be a bug).
  • Added option for Messages notifications to show a preview of the contents only if unlocked. (When enabled, unlocking your device is required to use Quick Reply from the Lock Screen.)
  • Activity data widget can now be added as a favourite in the Health app.
  • All Day events show up on the Calendar widget. (Not working for Birthdays.)
  • The Up Next widget now displays scheduled reminders.
  • Slight inertia when dragging down Notification Center past the Search Bar when in non-springboard apps.
  • Triple Click Home Button accessibility option now supports multiple new options.
  • Status Bar no longer remains behind notification bubbles when a notification appears.
  • In the Music app, you can now reorder the songs in the 'Up Next' list - as you could in iOS 9.
  • New headphones indicator in Status Bar when connected to wireless (used to just be the Bluetooth icon).

Bug Fixes:

  • Invisible button in Music app is finally gone!
  • Safari keyboard bug has been fixed (different but intentional behaviour for text boxes and when entering in the Address Bar).
  • When entering text in Quick Reply and then tapping the message box before sending, the entered text remains in the message box instead of being cleared.
  • A bug that allowed specific wallpapers to make the dock transparent has been fixed.
  • The "Downloaded" and "..." button overlap bug in the Music app on 4-inch devices and larger iPhones in zoom mode is fixed.
  • The issue with the Calculator app keys making sounds when Keyboard Clicks are turned off has been fixed. (or not, need more data)
  • Canceling a page swipe from a conversation in Messages, no longer results in the keyboard sliding to the right as the page slides back to the left.
Bugs:
  • When Mail Preview is set to None, the email's HTML will show in multiple lines within a notification (Accessible by going to Settings > Mail > Preview > None).
  • Safari will occasionally display an all white tab for a site you're viewing and reloading the tab does not return it to normal; you must close the tab and start again (has been this way in all iOS 10 betas without a fix. Closing safari in the app switcher resolves the issue).
  • LGBT/Rainbow flag emoji isn't entered when tapped from the emoji keyboard. (Homophobic, much, Apple?)
  • Now Playing sometimes opens full screen in Apple Music.
  • Siri keeps timing out randomly on certain activities including those that are clock-related (i.e. setting an alarm, turning off all alarms) as well as the final "Send" command after processing a request for a new message. Other inputs work, such as setting a reminder. This issue clears with a reboot but then resurfaces randomly.

For iphone 7 any improvements to the app close animation and general slow choppy animations such as scrolling through the app switcher?

Safari Keyboard bug fixed?

Also, can someone post a slow down version of the iPhone 7Plus home screen animation. Then we can confirm if its actually be changed.

Can someone post the change log? I can't believe it would be limited to bug fixes.

I know this is an oddly specific question, but.. this is for people running the beta on an iPhone 7 Plus and using Tweetbot:

Is the jerky scrolling that was only present on this phone in Tweetbot fixed? Just curious if the general OS bug that was causing it is resolved. This will likely smooth things up in other parts of the OS too.
