Today Scanbot app was updated, includes one feature which wasn't mentioned in release notes - the app icon color changes depending on the theme you set in the app. Looks very nice addition since iOS 10.3.
It would be interesting to see how more apps implement this.. would be really useful if iOS allowed to automatically update the icon e.g. for calendar, weather apps.. sort of like Windows live tiles... at least for calendar it shouldn't drain the battery much.

"Dynamic icons" is one of the latest feature of iOS SDK but there is one limitation. All icons have to be predefined and embedded in app binary which means that it would be hard to predefined 365 icons for each day of year (calendar example).

Thanks for the info. I find live tiles to be much more useful than the static icons and notification center... but it's available only on Windows.
I specifically mentioned calendar app because only Apple's stock app displays today's date on the icon.. all 3rd party apps which are better than the stock app can't do that, so I have to keep the calendar app on the home screen just to check the day/date. One can set up badge icon for the date, but it's not as elegant as being displayed on the icon itself. It would be nice if Apple allows to show today's day/date on the status bar along with the time.
