I ran the OTA update from the latest iOS 9. I felt confident that I could update to 10.0.2 without issue, but it's been stuck on the connect to iTunes screen for 2 days now. I've tried everything along the lines of updating and restoring, but I keep getting errors 17 and 28. The phone has never been jailbroken or physically damaged and functioned just fine before I attempted updating. The battery has been replaced once.
Any ideas? I'd rather not buy a new phone right now, and I'm more than 2 hours travel to the closest Apple store.

Have you tried putting it in recovery mode or DFU mode to restore/update it that way? Are you using the latest version of iTunes?

Got it fixed and updated. I don't know exactly what I did differently, it just decided to work on the 14th attempt. It finally updated after putting it in recovery mode, though I attempted updating from recovery mode before. Who knows--at least it's not a brick anymore.
