Hi. I recently upgrade to ios10 and I am not happy with it. Especially the music app. So I downgraded to 9.3.5 on my 6splus. Everything worked except the music app. The music app constantly crashed over and over and over. So I was forced to go back to ios10. Still very unhappy.

Is there anyway I can go back to 9.3.5 and use the music app without it constantly crashing?

I downloaded 9.3.5 file from here https://ipsw.me/. Then updated through itunes. Shift+update to select the 9.3.5 file from my desktop. It worked. But the music app crashes constantly.

Yeah, that kind of "downgrading" by "updating" can have issues. Your best bet would be to do a fresh install as new of iOS 9.3.5 and then restore from a backup (assuming you have an iOS 9 or earlier backup, as an iOS 10 one won't work).

How do I do a fresh install of ios 9.3.5? I don't have anything I care to back up so I just did a factory reset and when the phone updated it installed ios 10 again.
[doublepost=1474051979][/doublepost]I don't think I ever did a backup.

You'd need to put your phone into DFU mode and use the installer you downloaded to restore as new basically using iTunes.

I tried. There is no option for me to select the 9.3.5 update. And the phone keeps restoring and updating back to ios10.

I go into DFU mode. This is what I get.
"Itunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.
So I hit "OK".
After that the only option I have is.

"Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone "iPhone" to its factory settings? All of your media and other data will be erased, and the NEWEST version of the iPhone software will be installed."

Only options are Restore and Update and Cancel.
[doublepost=1474064388][/doublepost]Ok well I will keep trying to get that installer prompt.
[doublepost=1474065173][/doublepost]Once your iPhone is off, hold down both the sleep / power button as well as the home button for 10 seconds. Once 10 seconds has elapsed, release the sleep / power button on your iPhone, but continue to hold the home button until the the above message has appeared in iTunes telling you that your iPhone has been detected in recovery mode.

  • Click OK. You're now in DFU mode.
Yeah so I pressed OK. I am in DFU mode now but nowhere is there an option for me to select a previous firmware update.

Sounds like you might be going through recovery mode rather than DFU since with DFU you get to select what installer you want to use: https://www.engadget.com/2011/05/25/iphone-101-what-is-dfu-mode-and-whats-the-difference-from-rec/

Ok so what I did was go into DFU mode and manually select 9.3.5 by holding shift+restore iPhone.
For some reason the first time there was an error, second time it worked.
And the music app is now working properly and not crashing.

Thanks for your help really appreciate it! :)
