would appreciate feedback from those who have installed ios10 on iPhone 5 and iPad 4 ... Any slowdown, lag or other problems? Any speed difference to Ios9?

They both work well on ios9 and my instinct is to leave them there. I would prefer to update for the security factors etc, but not if it will make then uselessly slow.

Fine on iPhone 5, but I probably wouldn't install it on iPad 4. Even Air 1 isn't all that great on 10. IPhone 5 has the advantage of having enough memory and screen size so small that the GPU has no problems rendering the UI, unlike older iPads.

If you want all of your 3rd party apps to take a few seconds longer to load compared to 9.3.5 update.

That has been my experience on my iPhone 6. I tried updating again yesterday and while the animations are in fact quicker the actual load time of almost all my third party apps too longer to load. Some by many seconds. My Nike + run club app already slowed down significantly after the new redesign but trying to load it on iOS 10 takes about 10-15 seconds to load vs about 7-9 on 9.3.5. Also I've seen lag on typing and the mail app is slower and laggy. Even safari takes longer to load and load pages and it just feels mushy. Back to 9.3.5 on my 6 oh and my iPad 4 is staying there too! Things will only get worse!

This is how they get you want to upgrade. The best rule to follow is to probably only upgrade 1 major version past the original that your device came with if you value speed. 8.4.1 was faster on my 6 than 9 but I really wanted nightshift with out jailbreaking. iOS 9 took speed down a notch and iOS 10 another notch further! I'll be keeping my 6 on 9.3.5. Hope some of this helps!
