Hello,

I'm using an iPhone 6 which is running iOS 8.4.1. I've hesitated to update the phone to iOS 9 for various reasons. My phone is running fine on its current version but I like some of the features in this latest release. For those of you still using the 6, please post your experiences with iOS 10 such as crashing, speed, etc.

Thanks!

So far so good . I have updated both iPhone 6 & iPad mini . It took about ½ hour , much less than I expected .
One problem though , I seem to have lost my text replacements .

Unlocking the phone sucks now, before I could unlock with one press of a button and touch id, now I have to press it twice to unlock........ why?

You can turn that off, go to:

Settings, General, Accessibility, Home Button, then turn rest finger to open on :)

Mine has been stuck on the same bit for two hours. Hoping it'll finish up soon...

wow what a cock up by Apple, the new system sucks!

Plus the text is so big and ugly...

I found a roll back option, downloading the files now, IOS 9 is better.

So far all is well; however, I did notice there is no longer a way to trash all of your emails. If there is please someone let me know. That feature came in handy. Why would they remove this feature?

Unfortunately just like at least a handful of other previously existing and fairly straightforward features that didn't really need to be removed this seems to be just one that was removed for some reason, or perhaps no reason at all (or potentially due to some oversight/bug, which might mean it could be fixed at some point).

I'm noticing a bit of lag when opening/closing some apps. Oddly, both Messages and Apple Music crashed when I first opened them -- seem to be working fine now.

So far, I'm not liking iOS 10. Many small gripes, but they add up.

The new font on the lock screen is just hideous. The notification centre has updates from the News app, even though it isn't installed or even available for download. Apple Music's default view is still dominated by "recently added" with no option to turn this off. Genius Mixes auto-created from your local library are still nowhere to be found. The messaging app now has a smaller text bar when you compose a new message, and the send button is also smaller (round, not oval). This makes the app more annoying to use, at least for me.

Those are my initial impressions after using it for 30 minutes.

Just press and hold and it will unlock. I thought that originally too. If you press the button and remove your finger, it allows you to look at your notifications. Before, sometimes I'd actually bypass my notifications on the lock screen because it would automatically unlock the phone.

works great. you may have a period of adjustment with the refreshed UI in some areas, but it's not too big a deal and performance wise everything feels great. not sad about keeping it another year at all.

Lock screen has the wrong resolution, everything is to big. When unlocked its the right resolution. Quite irritating. Anyone else have the same issue?

iOS 10 is working well here. As already noted in this thread, some of the UI tweaks require some getting used to, but that's a half hour and done. There's some random stutter here and there, but it's so rare I really can't be bothered to get annoyed by it.

I've actually grown pretty fond of the new widgets, even went as far as going back to use the stock calendar app. Let's see if I at some point switch back to Fantastical (which is, well a fantastic app), but for now I'll stick with the stock calendar app.

EDIT: That second paragraph obviously has nothing to do with the hardware this thread is about, but was written in regards to the UI changes and the widget-screen in particular.

Probably just somewhat bigger for better visibility for those that just quickly glance at the lock screen.

Yeah, I mean the carrier name and all that other stuff up there have been bigger on the lock screen than elsewhere at least since iOS 9. If that's what was being referred to.
