I have tried downloading ios 10 PB 6 multiple times now but everytime I get this same error. Tried VPN, Resets, Restarts, nothing works. The same error pops up every time.

I had this problem too. I tried it a few times and eventually it worked.

What did you do eventually? Did you delete and redownload the update everytime?? Or did you just kept pressing install now time and again?

Thank you so much for the reply :)

For every beta of iOS 10 if I sleep the device while it's verifying the update before it reboots it gives me that error. However, if I leave the screen on it'll reboot and install. Weird bug.

I kept hitting download and install. It would reset itself each time

Oh right, it doesn't reset in my case and instead only shows install now after this error. To download it again and then install I have to go to storage and delete it manually.
Thanks for the reply

@QuarterSwede Yeah I thought that could be a solution but I have tried that many a times but to no avail.
I even kept the screen lit up while downloading but still when it goes to verifying update, stays there for like 2-3 minutes and bam this same error appears.

In my OTA error log I saw the following:

{"restore_payload_version":"14A5345a","restore_type":"OTAUpdate","os_version":"14A5341a","itunes_version":"14A5341a","bug_type":"183","name":"iPhoneRestore","restore_error":"11"}

And towards the end of this log there is this:

[{"targetOSVersion":"14A5345a","installTonight":false,"deviceClass":"iPhone","storageCapacity":60470,"systemFsCapacity":4011,"currentOSVersion":"14A5341a","dataFsCapacity":56459,"currentOSType":"Beta","reportVersion":1,"type":"ota","event":"applyFinished","systemFsFree":640,"eventTime":"1471766560065","failureReason":"MobileSoftwareUpdateErrorDomain 11 (Could not set up boot environment.);MobileSoftwareUpdateErrorDomain 7 (failed to create boot partition for update. error 1);","uptime":

Does anyone know about this???
Maybe this means something

Odd. Have you filed a bug report?

I've had this same issue since public beta 5. 5, 6 and now 7 all give the same error and nothing seems to remedy it. I'm probably forgetting some things I've tried but here's what I remember:
  • Keep trying "retry".
  • Delete downloaded update and download again.
  • Reset networks settings.
  • Hard reset.
  • Free up more space (17gb now available).
  • Change timezone to cupertino.
  • Change wifi dns to 114.114.114.114
  • Install from itunes: I click check for updates and it says 10.0 is up to date.
  • Deleting and reinstalling public beta profile.

With each new PB I'm hoping it will fix it will work, but nothing.

Same with me. Started with public beta 6 and now 7. I guess we'll have to restore as a new iphone eventually <sigh>

I'm still stuck on this. Don't wanna do a full iTunes restore :/

Same. Will wait for the final version to drop to see if it makes a difference, if not... don't think I'll have any other choice than to do a full restore from backup.

If you would've followed the instructions on the Apple iOS 10 PB website, you'd have an archived backup of the iOS 9 version & data you've used before upgrading to the beta.

You then could restore the phone to iOS 9 without losing any data and then try the upgrade to 10 PB again.

Archive an iOS backup with iTunes

Before you install prerelease software, back up your device in iTunes, then archive the backup. You won’t be able to use an iCloud backup or one you didn’t archive if you go back to the current version of iOS.

Follow these steps to archive a backup:

  1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes.
  2. Connect your device to your computer and open iTunes.
  3. If you want to save Health and Activity data from your iOS device or Apple Watch, you'll need to encrypt your backup: Select the box called Encrypt [device] backup and make a memorable password.

Write down your password and store it somewhere safe, because there's no way to recover your iTunes backups without this password.
If you don't need to save your Health and Activity data, you can make a backup that isn't encrypted. Just click Back Up Now.

  4. Wait for the backup to finish. Then go to iTunes > Preferences > Devices on your computer.
  5. Control-click the backup you just made. Then choose Archive to save it. If you decide to go back to the current version of iOS, you'll need this archived backup.

  6. Now you can install iOS beta.
