Today my usage stat in phone was pretty high. Thought maybe wonderful battery. However, it was only 2 hours less than standby and I didn’t use my phone THAT much.

Now after full charge usage = standby, about 2 hours with 99% remaining. I haven’t used my phone much. iPhone 8 Plus.

I knew projected 14-15 hours of usage was too good to be true.

I’d be very surprised if anyone on iPhone 7 or 7 Plus can get the 14/15 hours of Wi-Fi browsing claimed by Apple. Hasn’t this figure even increased since before the 8/X announcement? If so, why?

The best I got on my 7 Plus recently was 11 hours of light use, predominantly browsing Safari on Wi-Fi (and yes I use an ad-blocker). The all-time best I got was 12 hours on iOS 10, probably when my phone was near new. These figures are with overall low screen-brightness and little to no background app activity. That’s 20-27% less than the potential maximum claimed, not an insignificant amount.

I think their testing significantly overestimates battery life under any real-world use case including just browsing Safari on Wi-Fi with low screen brightness.

I do limit/manage background activity. I also am not a full brightness user. 40-60% on average.
