I've experienced multiple freezes running iOS 11.2, specifically where the display fails to respond to touch for 10-15 seconds, or won't respond to the lock button. This is on an iPhone X. I can even see the second had freeze/stop on the Clock app if it happens on the home screen. It will continue to catch up then freeze again for another 15 seconds, then maybe go away altogether. Restarting the phone fixes it for a few hours. Anyone come across this? I did a restore using iTunes after I first experienced it after updating OTA the day 11.2 came out. I have plenty of free space left, and haven't seen anything that stands out in the crash log.

I would do a “Reset All Settings”

I was close to doing that. One odd think I saw was that my iPhone X backup was taking up like 80Gb or something crazy in my iCloud. I deleted it and did a fresh backup and it’s way down to like 10Gb...

Happens to me regularly. At first I thought it was only happening in my Google News app but then it happens in other apps too and to the point where it takes 10-15 seconds to respond to anything for several minutes at a time. Even the standby by button. I’m on iPhone X

I’ll say, ever since I noticed that huge backup, deleted it, and did a fresh backup, it’s been ok. About 36 hours of normalcy. Check your iCloud storage backup section on the off chance?

I also have been experiencing the same issue since Dec 6th, so far my iPhone 8 plus has frozen 4 times. The only way to fix it is to do the force restart volume up, volume down and hold the power button. Today the app that caused the freeze was Snapchat, after force restarting the phone I tried to open snapshot and the app kept on closing, it's not only Snapchat other apps are doing the same. I removed the app and reinstalled it. It's a constantly doing this, when will Apple release a fix for all these issues. Today I am planning on resetting the phone back to factory settings and manually reinstall all the apps.

I have been experiencing the same issue several times on my iphone X (iOS 11.2).
Last night it was even odder. After the display didn't respond for 10-15 seconds, it started to respond again. But I couldn't open any app, including Settings. Volume/lock buttons didn't respond and I couldn't lock screen or soft reset. Force restart worked though.
This morning it happened again. I tried to power off first and the touch screen froze at "slide to power off/Emergency SOS". After 5 second countdown, it called 911 and I force restarted after the call.
I'm turning 'reduce motion' on now, and will see if it fixes the problem.

Hi Weaves, After a few chats with AppleSupport, I decided to reset the phone back to factory settings and then I restored all the apps. I noticed there was another IOS update 11.2.1 I proceeded to update and restarted the phone. As soon as my kiddo opened up a few apps some of them did not open for nothing in the world. Removing the app and reinstalling solved the problem for now. I will turn off reduce motion to see if this works. If this doesn't work I will be returning the phone back for a replacement.

I am having the same freeze issues with the 11.2.1 release. Highly likely Apple is going to push out an update in the next few days. iPhones are configured to automatically send a crash report to Apple.

I had enough, I finally made an appointment with Apple care today Dec 28th, 2017. So far today the phone restarted 4 times. If they share anything about the restarts I will report back.

I.have the problem too...mainly with the Note's app. It's worst on an iPad 5 and iPad mini but present on an iPhone X and 6+. It's existed since I began beta testing ios 11. I use Notes a lot so I haven't updated my main iPad Pro's 10.5" yet from ios 10 and won't until it's fixed.

Same problem happening to me on iPhone 7. Just over the last couple of weeks. Reading google news today was particularly irritating. All of a sudden the screen locks and you can’t go anywhere. I just have to keep restarting google news which gets annoying after a while.

I’m having the same issue where it freezes and you can’t do anything. What a bummer.

Take it to the Iphone store, I managed to get them to replace the device and never saw this issue again. FYI be persistence.
