iPhone iOS 11.2 on X i bug and emoji bug

My X with 11.2 still has the i bug and emoji bug but only when I view stuff not while typing

Well, the fix isn't in seeing what others typed or are typing--that's on their end--the fix is not to have it come up when you are typing it.

So in theory when I do see it, means they haven't updated (

The [?] is not because of the I bug. It’s because you aren’t on the latest version to view the new emoji.

“I” changes to A[?]. Not [?][?][?]. 3 emojis were sent and you get the 3 boxes. Update to 11.1 or later and you will see the emojis.

Or it was written when they were still experiencing the issue.

Wait. I updated to the latest. Why am I still seeing that question mark box from other people??

As CD M explained already, the fix is for devices writing, not reading. If someone who hasn't updated and their phone is still having the bug, the post gets written as A [?] and all devices see that.
The update fixes the device so it doesn't write that anymore. It doesn't fix anything on the read side.
