Has anyone updated their iPhone to the GM of iOS 11 and tested it out with their car? I drive a 2009 Honda Civic (pre-carplay obviously) and I remember that the GM of iOS 10 broke the iPod functionality in the car until like three months into it when they finally patched it. I'm nervous to update without knowing!

I’ve got a 2010 Nissan without Bluetooth stereo (just the Bluetooth for phone calls) and I haven’t found iOS 11 any worse than 10 (been on the betas for over a month).

Problems in iOS 10/11:
  • Can’t start playing from Music.app unless it’s already in “now playing” in Control Center (it will let me start from the stereo’s interface). I generally make sure I start playing before I plug in.
  • Switching the audio from one app to another is dicey (e.g. going from Music to Podcasts or vice versa). See above about starting to play before plugging in or I have to unplug and plug in.
  • Track skipping from the stereo controls (steering wheel or dash) stops working after 5-20 skips until I power cycle the stereo or unplug and plug in the phone
  • Random other fairly rare weirdness that requires unplugging or power cycling one side or the other (e.g. only showing “1” on the stereo’s display instead of any track information)

Yeah I've had those same issues with iOS 10, but good to know updating won't completely break functionality! Thanks.
