First of all, I'm one of those types who likes to keep the Notification Center clear of all notifications, and I clear them regularly. But this annoyance totally breaks my flow.

As you know, as the notifications arrive on the lock screen, they are neatly grouped together under "New Notifications". Here's the annoyance: new notifications don't have an 'x' to clear them all at once. It becomes even worse when there are no older notifications whose 'x' you could use to clear new ones. Why, Apple, why??????!!!!!!!!!

Who else is triggered by this?

When you unlock the phone the "New Notifications" are automatically cleared and moved to "Earlier Today", leaving you both with a clean lock screen and a way to clear them later if you want.

OMGWTFBBQ!!!!11!!!1one1!!eleven

^^^ adds nothing but seems to be in the spirit of the thread

That's what I've been doing as a workaround. But boy is the workaround even more annoying than the annoyance itself!!!!1111

Why? Next time you even see the lock screen they're not visible. What annoys you about that?

Like I said, I like to keep my Notification Center clear of all notifications at all times, visible or not. It's a subconscious thing, probably part of my OCD. New notifications are NOT automatically moved to older ones until you lock the phone and unlock again. That's where the annoyance lies: I can't clear them in step 1

They're the notifications received since you last actively used your phone. That's why they are visible, so you can check if you need or want to action anything. If you do when you unlock to do so, they are archived.

I mean, eh, if you want them gone due to the OCD you almost certainly don't have then whatever, but that's not the way it works so you're either going to have to adapt or be unhappy.

I don't need to know how notifications work; I know very well how they work. The annoyance is that new notifications can't be cleared in step 1.

I agree if there is something mental going on here then disable them from lock screen.

Not many people clear all notifications before actually checking the corresponding apps to handle the basis for the notification. That's why there is no clear all for new notifications, it just doesnt make a whole lot of sense as notifications are meant to be acted upon generally.

If you want your notifications screen clean why do you not just disable notifications?

Or just disable lock screen notifications for a middle ground.

I feel for OP, I have occasions where I get a number of alerts at same time (eg. weekend to-do list should be tended to now) and the old uber-clear button was nice. But then again, not a biggie for me to swipe the alert left and click clear. Or wait for them to become "Earlier Today".
