So here's a selection of issues i'm having,
speaker button not working
adjusting volume
problems opening apps / then apps freezing if i do get in
camera not opening / freezing
apps closing when using them, eg spotify
phone generally turning itself
bad battery
dropping calls
call not connecting at all unless i'm home on wifi
location on weather app not working

done that, reset network settings several times and done full restore. Have set my phone up about 10 times in the last 2 weeks and have spent around 8 hours on the phone to apple!

thanks for the advice but i've done that as well. They want me to set up as new and then download all my apps 1 by 1 so each one can be tested. I simply don't have the time or inclination to do this! Especially when nothing has worked so far

Complains about problems, doesn't want to do troubleshooting steps to diagnose. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Cake is always the answer! I literally don't have the time to do what they're asking as i have a job and a life! I've spent the majority of last 2 weekends on to apple, reinstalling apps / resetting network / restoring phone. I hate how reliant we've become and makes me pine for the simpler times.

Sounds like something must have gone really wrong during your iOS 11 installation.

What I would do:
1) Do a backup of your phone if it currently contains anything worth saving;
2) Put a phone in a DFU mode - https://9to5mac.com/2016/09/18/iphone-7-how-to-force-restart-recovery-dfu-mode/
3) Restore the iPhone to iOS 11 (via iTunes);
4) Before installing anything on it, go to Settings > General > Info and check if it offers you to update your carrier (EE) profile;
5) Try putting the back-uped stuff back and try using it again.

If it works, all good. If not, do take it to the nearest Apple Store or the EE shop if you bought it from them, as your 7 should still be within its 2 years warranty period. You can tell them everything you had tried and, normally, they must either fix it for you or give you a new phone.

I did this on Sunday, it took me 2 hours. I'm making an appointment at Genius bar and speaking to EE again as i'm getting nowhere with this and can't even make calls unless i'm at home

Idk why we pay so much money when Apple can't do proper QA testing. They shouldn't have released iOS 11 until all the issues were solved. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If Apple (or any software developer for that matter) 'tested' to the 'standards' that this forum feel entitled to (for their free updates), you would never get a new release, ever.

I'm not sure they are free per se. One of the reasons people pay so much for Apple kit is the regular update. It could therefore be classified as part of a paid for support model.

As for testing, this is now rife across the software world. Since moving from coding to management several years ago, I despair at some of the stuff that is allowed to get into the live environment. However the pressure to hit deadlines (for Apple September, other deadlines for other organisations) means that you do have to do a "We'll see if anyone notices it and fix it on the fly" approach. Agile software development also has a lot to answer for (or at least the shoddy implementation often seen)

It was properly tested, else they would have had a total PR disaster on iOS 11 launch. It’s an isolated incident, where for some reason the OP’s iPhone 7 could not update. She says she had tried everything, including the DFU mode restore. This would probably warrant a new iPhone 7, if during her Genius’s appointment they don’t manage to bring it back to life.

Even the Genius Bar will ask you to do the same thing. This is clearly a software issue and you have to get it sorted using the well tried and tested methods.

Ps. All of us have a job and a life. Just so you know.

Have you set the phone up as new just to test?

If that works, then it’s definitely something with your restore...and if that’s the case...a new handset won’t make a difference if all you’re going to do is restore from a backup again.

Sounds like it could be a hardware issue. I started to have some of these issues yesterday. My 7 kept randomly rebooting, then told me I need to restore. After restore rebooted a few times while trying to sync. Finally got it set up again and would freeze opening apps and sometimes reboot. Then my Bluetooth stopped working this afternoon. Took it to Apple after work and they repleaced it for me as it was hardware issue.

Have look in Settings, Privacy, Analytics, Analytic data. You’ll see a list of iOS logs and look to see if you have any starting with Panic. I had loads of Panic logs starting yesterday when my issues started.
