IOS 11 on IPHONE 6 - yes or no - SLOW SPEED VIDEO

It's up to your preference. Perhaps you should make a backup on iOS 10 and install 11 to try it out while you can still go back.
My iPod touch has the same processor as iPhone 6, I find it slower and apps get removed from multitasking a bit faster.
They have made some changes, for example you can open apps before the unlock animation is finished.I'm most curious about the input-blocking delays -- have they been improved at all?
As an aside... I can't believe just how hideous they've made the Phone dialer. Just when I thought they couldn't make it any worse, they've done it... yikes..
I noticed on ios 11 (from the video), the apple logo was flash/glitching...is that normal? I'm not sure if it has anything to do with speed....but that glitching thing of the apple logo got me curious.
YMMV, but my iPhone 6 was already a bit sluggish on iOS 10. It doesn't seem any worse on iOS 11, but I've only used it for a day so far. The things that frustrated me about iOS 10 still frustrate me in 11: My camera often takes too long (5 seconds or so) to be ready to take a photo. It can also take a few seconds to go from photo to video. I had exactly the same problem in iOS 10. Maybe it's a little slower in iOS 11, but I don't think so. Sometimes my camera would just fail to load in iOS 10 until I restarted. (guess I probably should have stuck with iOS 9). I don't notice the lag as much performing other operations like switching apps, but animations and things are always instant or smooth.
In my experience upgrading iOS and iPhones over the years (I think it was 3G to 4 to 5 to 6... also went from an iPad 3 to an iPad Pro): It's not the iOS updates that slow down older devices as much as it is the newer app versions that are designed to run on newer hardware. The camera responsiveness (or lack thereof) is an exception... that's all between the hardware and the OS. On most of my devices even when I held back on updating to the latest version of iOS, my device would still feel like it was slowing down as I updated apps to the latest version. I suppose you can try to avoid upgrading apps as well as the OS, but the fact is that the iPhone 6 is now 3 years and 4 iPhone generations old. A 6s still has some oomph because it was quite a hardware upgrade over the 6.
If you don't want to upgrade to an 8 or an X, I bet there will be some good deals on used 6s and 7 iPhones in the coming months. The iPhone 6 can still function as a reasonably good smartphone, but not for those who want super snappy performance.

I have seen several mentions of lack of performance with iOS 11 on iPhone 6.
I have not seen this--I have always updated all apps and all iOS versions as soon as they come out--I have had zero issues, my Camera loads fast, and changing to video is smooth--Maybe I am just lucky---but I find it best to keep all my Tech updated as soon as possible.

Agreed. My iphone 6 is running fine and dont plan on upgrading the devices for another two years
Good to hear. The thing is, some people have very different perceptions of what is fast enough.
Many people around here were saying iOS 7.0 was plenty fast or they hadn't noticed it when it was abysmally slow. They only conceded when 7.1 was released and there was a very noticeable increase back partially towards the performance of iOS 6 (though that has never since been replicated).
It’s really been just a day essentially. Usually good to go through a few cycles which usually means a few days.

a big concern is the 1gb ram: i think we all agree on that (when u change app, u need to load it again - no multitasking at all)

I don't have that problem when I change apps, but i also only have 1-3 apps open at a time

Speed is one thing, with iOS 11 you also get security updates and newer modem firmware.
I've had the public beta on my 6 plus since it came out. At first it was so slow and buggy, I reverted to iOS10 beta's again. About 2 months ago I went back to iOS 11 beta and it was better. However, even with 11.0 now released, on my 6 plus, it's painfully slow for me. Even things like connecting my AirPods takes forever....while on my iPad Pro 9.7 it's fast. It's so painful intact, I'm likely just going to upgrade to an 8 plus or X soon...the best days of the 6 plus are behind us I think. Yes, it will run....but I want it snappy and always want to be on the most recent iOS version related to security. YMMV. BOTTOMLINE: I will NOT upgrade my wife's 6 to iOS 11 at all, I'll move her to a 7 or 8 upgrade.

However I have noticed battery life not being reported properly (actually why I started browsing the forums). I'll charge the phone to full, use it for maybe 20-30min and it'll drop to some absurd amount, last night it from 97% to 39%. The interesting thing is, I wanted to see how fast it would go down after it hit 39%, it stayed at 39% for a solid 20 minutes (watching YouTube on the phone to pass the time). So something fishy is going on with the way the battery life is being reported, other than that it's just fine.

It’s awful with twitter. I’ve had this problem for about a year but it’s so much more noticeable now. If I leave the app for more than a min I have to go back and scroll through hours of tweets to get back to where I was, it doesn’t even remember where I left off anymore. I have been planning to upgrade my phone this year but really not sure about the X yet.
