Talk about the little things. Got a nice connection of .m4r files that I have used for years as ringtones and it sure looks like in this new version of iTunes they are gone!

Anyone have any ringtone thoughts?

drag the files onto the devices on the left side of iTunes.

A million thank you's to you for this! I was getting rather annoyed that I couldn't add all of my personalised and handmade ringtones to my new 8 plus.

But how on earth do you delete/remove synced tones (and books for that matter)?

All I get in iTunes is Item Info when right clicking the already synced tones. Same goes for my books I synced via iTunes.

Browse in Finder to:
- Music
- iTunes
- iTunes Media
- Tones
and manually remove them, I guess. There is no option to unselect them, currently. Possibly an oversight on Apples behalf, as there's no Tones section there under 'Settings' in iTunes either!

For Books, just select the "Books" label under 'Settings' in iTunes and then select or deselect the ones you want, then sync through iTunes.

I missed that on the books, thanks!

For the tones I guess I am out of luck then, since I only have a Windows PC. Really hope Apply fixes this anytime soon.

Me too, and a few others over on the Apple Communities forums that are asking the same question.

If you're on Windows, have you tried one of those iPhone explorer apps? You could probably remove them through the explorer there.

Nope, haven't. I'd rather hold off until Apple issues an official fix, rather than tampering with those tools. Atleast the tones aren't the most heavy weight files on the phone.

That's true, most of mine are matter of kilobytes in size.

This is for transferring them onto your iPhone/iPad,iPod. You need to browse to where your ringtones are stored on your computer, select the ones you want to transfer to your iDevice, and drag them to the section in iTunes that shows the media on your iDevice, not the section labeled 'Settings.'

So far, you can't get them off though.
