When I go into the "People" album, I see several people I already added in iOS10, basically my family members. But previously there was a way to add more faces from photos to "People" by giving a name to faces that were found in photos. How do you do this in iOS11? When I go into people I can browse people I already added, and there is a way to remove or unfavorite faces, but how do I add new faces/people to the album?

I think this one is a wait for the future. Beta 1 combines people from each of your sources but does not allow expansion yet.

Makes sense. I was wondering if I was missing something or if it wasn’t implemented yet.
I only have a few people at the moment too. When it came about last year I went nuts for a few hours on my iPad adding people. then discovered it didn't sync and it was cleared in the next beta. Overall the feature has not been one I use and still don't think I will put in much time until final release.

I did the same, thinking they would sync with photos on my Mac (not in the beta but in the iOS 10 release). I was also disappointed that they didn’t sync even though I’m using iCloud Photo Library.

Not sure if it’s an iOS 11 thing or not but the feature is getting good at auto scanning and adding photos to any given person. After updating to 11 I’ve notice fairly new photos were scanned and added to the correct person automatically. Never paid attention to if this was happening on 10 or not.

Does anyone know if there is a way to edit the names of the people? Some seem to be showing as First Name and Last Name. Some are only showing First name. When you merge it always seems to merge to just the First Name. Not a big deal outside of the fact that it orders the names based on first name alphabetical when there is a last name, then does the ones with just the first name alphabetical.

Also, per some of the questions above about how to remove incorrect faces you can do the following:
1. Open the persons folder
2. Click "Select" at the top right of the screen
3. Click "Show Faces" at the bottom of the screen
4. Choose the incorrect face and choose the bottom left chooser button
5. Select "Not this person"

Maybe they improved their machines learning algorithm.

I’m having the exact same problem. It seems to be a software issue and possibly a bug that hasn’t been worked out of the new IOS yet?

It’s there - but there’s no list of unknown people...

To add a new person to the People album, find a picture that has the new person in it. Display it and swipe up. Click on the person’s face and add a name. Photos will then find the rest of the pictures of that person.

You can also open up the People album, click on a person, and swipe up - there’s a “confirm additional photos” command there as well.

The problem for me is a photo with my granddaughter and daughter-in-law. It recognized our granddaughter and added that photo to her People page. But - and this is an assumption on my part - it does not even show my daughter-in-law as a face present in the picture, I guess because she is wearing rather large sunglasses. And since her "face" does not show after scrolling up on the picture, there is no way to manually add her face or a name to the face.
And there is another recent photo of our son, granddaughter and daughter-in-law (with the little one between them) and swiping up on the photo does not show her (granddaughter) as a face.
We need a completely MANUAL way of telling Photos that there is another face in the photo.

Yep they fixed it before the release. In certain betas there was no way to do it.
