Sometimes I like change but come on! I don’t listen to a lot of music on iPhone but I constantly listen to podcasts.

Just updated to iOS11 Public Beta 3... unless I’m missing something but I don’t like the new Podcast app.

Where is Play Oldest to Newest?
Where is Sort Oldest to Newest?
Why when one podcast finishes, doesn’t it just play the next one automatically like before?

I can’t be the only one?

Why even bother with Apple's own podcast app? It's always been horrible. Third party apps are so much better and have richer features, like Casts.

[doublepost=1509071591][/doublepost]You are not the only one. What, really, was the point of these changes? Did they start over in a new language or something? Were people complaining about these features that they didn’t really have to use if they didn’t want to? Who gets the priority when it comes to features. And while we’re at it, why don’t we work on setting priorities among Bluetooth devices so all of our devices aren’t fighting with each other for the phone’s audio? I’m in my office on a business conference call and I lose it to the car my wife started up in the garage, where she finds herself in the middle of a conference call until she gets far enough away that I get it back. These are real problems, so why screw around with how the podcast app works? Who was complaining about that?

Exactly. They change **** for the sake of being able to say they updated the app when it makes things work. Somethings can be left alone apple. Leave it alone. Like when they change the signal bars to dots and then they changed it again to the old signal. Really?? Or I posted my other complaint the other day about iOS 11 when dismissing notifications. ughhh

Oh but to second the other poster use a different podcast app. The apple one sucks donkey balls. I use pocket cast which is worth the money and I bought the app 4 years ago and they continue to update it.

It's a mess now. It's so confusing to sort out which podcasts are actually on my device, and which are just in the store, so many clicks to just PLAY a show.

Apple is just updating stuff without care anymore.

Podcasts / Shows / (3 dots on upper right side / Settings (and you will see Episode order) / Custom Settings (and you will see the Episode Order to change it

I actually like the new podcast app. Its a completely new re-think by apple and it took weeks for me to get used to.
but it has solved all my old problems with apple's podcast app. but it does take a while to learn how to use it.

Sure there are better Podcast Apps in the App Store to pay for.
But where is the point of getting an iPhone, if you need to buy all by yourself, because the included stuff just sucks?

People pay over 1000 bucks for something, and all they get is a screwed up Podcast App and a malfunctioning Calculator and some fancy bling bling features nobody needs. Hell, this all worked once, and they keep destroying what already worked.

Privately, I'm close of moving away from all that malfunctioning Apple Eco System, it's really falling apart in my opinion.

Agreed leave **** alone Apple. But there’s some really great apps out there that really improve the iPhone that Apple can’t touch.

Google photos: free photo back up
Google music: back up music
Amazon drive/Dropbox: another file back up
Waze: Absolutely a must for my commute
Google map: way better search results for businesses
Spark: my new favorite email app. You can snooze and!!!!!! You can delay send an email. I love those toe features. And delay send has been something I’ve wanted for years.
Also pocket cast for my podcasting needs.
And so many more but those are the apps I need on my phone.

I did NOT buy an iPhone for the native apps. The podcast app I use is Overcast, the free version. I will end up buying the app to help support the developer because it’s a nice app.

I use Storm, and trying to decide between Carrot and Hello Weather for my weather apps

Amazon Music because I have Prime

Google Photos because the search feature and facial recognition is miles ahead of Photos

Outlook because the native Mail app is 2 clicks to delete an email instead of a swipe.

My point is that native apps sometimes suck but we do have the option of trying out hundreds of free apps. You don’t have to use the native apps.

Other than the fact thats it has free storage (which admittedly is a big plus but I already pay for 200GB iCloud storage that I would keep for stuff other than my photos so it's a bit of a non-feature for me) what other advantages does this offer over iCloud Photo Library, especially for some like me with all Apple products and an massive iCloud photo library that I happily use in the photos app on MacOS. Not being argumentative, i'm just generally curious what the google one offers that you feel the Apple one can't touch. I have no experience with it

First off it’s free. You can pay $1.99 per month to upload the “full version”, uncompressed photo. The free version is up to 16mega pixels. But our phones don’t shoot over 16MP...so they don’t get resized. Search function is way better. Facial recognition is way better. And it’s free. Photos is 5 gigs for free

I'm a fan of Downcast, not least because I use it additionally to play audiobooks. Its my all-in-one for spoken word

Not a good idea in general to "put all your eggs in one basket".

Will I don’t really see an upside if your are ok with iCloud 200gb. For photo back up google photos is pretty good.
I have my digital goods on external and in the cloud services (two back ups solutions). I’m using g photos to back up photos on Mac. And I can browse all of my pics for the last 15yrs in the app.

An example for me... I lost music on iTunes for whatever reason I really can’t figure out why but luckily I uploaded my music to google music years ago and restore three nirvana songs to my iTunes.

I just like how it sits up there (my music) and I don’t use it every month (heck maybe a year) but as a backup it works great.

Another example is my my parents are not computer people. Luckily I uploaded their music to their google music account (tied to their respective gmail account) maybe in 2013 or 2014 (can’t remember). Their MacBook Air died in 2016 and they didn’t back up on time machine. I recovered their music when they got a macbook! They had to rebuild playlist but the fact that it just sites in the cloud for emergencies works great.

I don’t mean to sound like a google evangelist (I’ve seriously purchased over 30 apple products [sadly]) but just my experience.
