So, in iOS 10.X, I was able to place my iPhone 6 in my ProClip mount, turn on Music or Podcast, and the screen would stay on if audio was playing, via bluetooth (or headphones, I'm pretty sure, also). This isn't the case with iOS 11 and the iPhone 8 (I'm pretty certain it stopped working on the 6 also). Now, if I put on a Podcast and need to select a different one, I have to unlock the iPhone then do all the now unnecessary steps to start a new one.

Am I missing a setting or is this as intended? It's very inconvenient if it is intended.

I wonder if it’s part of their safety while driving thing.

Maybe they can add a shortcut to Control Center to leave the screen on for good. But that could open some security risks.
