Can a folder be created within another folder?

I thought this functionality arrived years ago.

I’m chasing folders around my screen with other folders...no can do. :(

I feel like an idiot.

Maybe I’m missing something, but in Files, I can make folders within folders. Both “On My iPhone” and “iCloud Drive". o_O

Thank you. I’m working on the main screen of an iPhone. When I pull a folder overtop another folder to merge them, the target folder just scoots away. I can’t get them to merge. iOS 12.2 on an XS Max.

yeah - easy to do using iCloud drive - both on mac and iOS

I would think it would be on iOS but I’m having an issue I’m trying to work through.

Whoa, what the ****?! You could definitely do this before, but it’s not working for me either. So weird.

hmm . . . I just tried and it worked fine on both iOS 12.1.14 and MAC 10.14.3

that said - I have been holding off on most recent iOS and Mojave for these kinds of reasons lol

I was going to update and test and then stopped and thought no - don't do that - lol

Thank you so much. I’m on 12.2 on both the iPhone and iPad and can’t do it. I’m not blaming the iOS, but don’t know what’s preventing it. I swear I’ve done this in the past.

Again, I appreciate your input.

sorry I misunderstood - thanks for the video! - just tried it again and I can't do the subfolder - just the app

when I tried the folder like in your video it was the same on iOS 12.1.14

@Gutwrench

I can certainly understand your confusion as I seem to recall this as well. Possibly iOS 7 or 8. I am currently on iOS 9 and it didn't seem to be a thing when I tried it back in late 2015 or so.

Jailbreaking however allows for it.

Haha, those folders! I did try that some time back and couldn’t do it either, I can’t remember exactly, but it was probably iOS 11 or 12.

Those stubborn folders! I chased one all over. Speedy little devil! It even tried to escape onto another page!
