Has anyone else see the contacts in text messaging switch user names before and after texts are sent? What I mean is for example I search for the contact Mom, I start a new text send the text but when I go back or look at the text main screen I sent the text to Dad. Now they are both using Imessage and on the same Itunes account. Its happening randomly. It does it while texting my kids as well. Same thing happens I text my wifes contact and it shows that I sent it to my son. Weirdest thing I have ever seen. I know its beta just wondering if Im the only one thats seen this.

Same iTunes account (same Apple ID being logged into iMessage) could cause that.

there is a bug...I have replied to a iMessage, and it shows as a response...then it disappears and appears on a different number. Very strange bugs happening in iMessage on B3

Ive also had entire parts of a conversation disappear hours later. It usually occurs when the contact has two numbers.

Im glad Im not the only one. Let hope they address it in Beta 4. Sending the wrong messages to someone could be a bad thing. LOL!

I can confirm that beta 4 has not addressed it at all. If anything its worse. Bad enough that I have had to turn Imessage off for right now.

This is also happening with Imessage turned off. It seems to be when there is more than one person on the same apple ID, but it only gets messed up when I try and text and it will usually go to the last person that I texted with on the same apple ID, not the other person that I am trying to text.

I had the same issue and reported it. I haven’t tried on B5 yet, but my temporary fix was to delete all iMessage history with those two contacts and start over.

It never happened until the iOS 12 beta and while it’s a pain to delete and always start again, I’m patient as it’s a beta.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I have the same issue with contacts on the same apple id. I can't message my husband or any of my kids right now?

What I have found is that who ever has texted you last you can reply to them. However at any time during the conversation someone else texts you on the same ID your messages will switch to them. Its always the last person that texts you. Cray bug right!

So far I have been able to fix it temporarily. I turned off imessage and it was still crazy.
So with imessage off I deleted all prior conversations ( which killed me, I had texts for years). I turned on imessage and then I texted each one separate and it appears to be ok for the moment. I am patient with betas but I need to be able to message my kids

It did not work for me. Still having the issue.

Are you using iCloud Contacts? I had this issue way back. Have you manually check your contacts to make sure they are right? Have you tried to toggle it off and delete it off your device and toggle on to resync it. My issue back then was that some contacts name and phone numbers were merged and some were swapped.

I just started another thread about this as well. Oops, guess I should have looked first. Having the same issue.

I've looked at my parents devices (which I setup) and while they have the same Apple ID, they are only set to send/receive to their own phone numbers.

No iCloud contacts on my device or theirs. They are on 11.4.1 and I am the only one with this issue running the 12b.

I have looked in to setting the rest of my family (not my parents) on their own Apple IDs with family sharing, but it maxes out at 6 and we're a family of 7...boo.

It’s delaying the inevitable. A secure ID was never meant to be for shared use. It doesn’t cost anything to message so why not get them their own accounts.

Probably true. The downside is family sharing is capped at 6 and we’re a family of 7. Oh well, no sense in complaining about it :)

No worries :) just hope they have the same music tastes :p
One thing I thought of is that for this to get 'cleared' up, I would actually have to go to my parents phones and setup family sharing for them (or an Apple ID for messages, shared for iCloud). Same would apply for anyone else that is also on a shared Apple ID setup then. Ugh, what a pain.

I'm guessing this becomes a larger issue Apple hears about when iOS 12 GM drops and it starts happening for more than just us beta testers, but pure speculation. o_O

Why would you have to go to them? All they have to do is give you their Apple ID and you can manage the family sharing remotely.

I could setup family sharing for them, yes, however, making sure that they're setup on each of their phones with the right logins and changing that (they use tech, but are NOT tech savvy) is part of the gap.
