Do I have to unsubscribe from the public beta program to get iOS 12 once it is released or is the update automatic? Silly question perhaps but I don’t know. First time I did enroll. Thanks.

You'll probably need to remove the beta profile and reboot in order to see the public release version. Typically, the last beta is the same as the public release anyway otherwise they will, in effect, be releasing untested software.

However, do bear in mind that as soon as you do that someone will post on here that iOS 12.1 beta is out and you'll think "oooo, I want that!" and put the beta profile on again :)

I’m on PB Beta 6 and it’s so good that I deleted the profile. Lol. Then I won’t be prompted for an update and can read up on how it is first.

This is correct.

I don't see why this is good. You can see the notification about the update, and wait 1 day to read the opinions here. In this way you don't need to install/uninstall the beta profile several times

I’m ocd and hate unread notifications. Lol

Well in tracing a couple of pids that seemed to be spawning the error to close beta box I noticed it was a incompatible app with my bluetooth. I turned off bluetooth turned it back on and a variable was initialized and the error went away. Maybe try airplane mode on and off also. I was getting the error every 3 minutes and its been hours now

How do you remove the beta profile? Thanks.

Personally, I download the GM and then do a fresh install. With messages in the cloud, syncing isn’t an issue. I manage my photos on my Mac and sync it over and music and ringtones are also managed on my Mac. But yes, remove the beta profile and then you can upgrade to the public build when it’s released to all.

To remove the beta profile go to settings>general>profile and tap the beta profile you installed and click the “remove” button. Once you’ve removed it restart the device and you’ll be out of the beta program. However, your device will still be on the iOS 12 beta. The public release is in about two weeks though so you don’t be on a beta for much longer.

I'm on the PB right now, but am in severe need of performing a full reset and refresh of my iP6 due to severe lack of storage space (400mb remaining).

Can i do a full reset and refresh and still keep my beta tester status? Ideally I'd like to do this refresh once 12 is officially released.

A full reset which will put you back on iOS11, then reinstall the beta profile and then it should offer you the iOS12 beta.

It would be easier to delete stuff that's filling up your phone, maybe by checking the storage to see if any apps (or your 10 years worth of iMessages etc) are filling your phone up. You can also toggle the settings (whose name I forget) which offloads apps that haven't been used in a while.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe being on the beta can take its toll on phone storage by filling it with diagnostics and logs. I think doing a sync to iTunes clears those out.

Thanks Adrian. For me, every once in a while I like to carry out a full refresh on my devices. A bit of OCD, maybe :D

Can I wait for the official iOS 12 to be released before installing it and then re-signing for the beta programme? Or do I need to install the beta before the official version is released? Reason I ask is, I I want to install iOS 12 once I know there is a chance of a jailbreak being released :D

I don't understand the question. Do you mean ... can you upgrade to the official iOS12 from iOS11? Yes, sure. Did you mean can you install the beta profile after iOS12 comes out? Well yes, but it'll be for the public 12.1 (or whatever) beta. Hmm - can you ask the question again? :)

Oh, and jailbreak for iOS12? You're gonna be on 11 for ages if you're waiting for that I reckon.

Apologies mate. I reread my post and totally understand why you're confused.

I'm currently on the iOS 10 Jailbreak and absolutely love it (especially consolidation and the status bar icons for missed calls, messages etc). I missed out on the 11 Jailbreak so now have to wait for 12.

What I want to do is wait till there's some news on a 12 Jailbreak and then upgrade to iOS 12. But when I do move to 12 I want to go onto the beta trial.

I'm currently trialling iOS 12 on my iPad. It's brilliant. The only thing it lacks is the status bar icons and Activator.

Running with less than 1-2GB will slow phone down. The install of 12.0 b8 was 1.5GB and would need more than even that.

Phew! Thought it was a case of trying to get my brain in gear too early on a Sunday.

I haven't used a Jailbreak since iOS9. I missed it for a while but it soon passed. I occasionally reminisce about being able to make the icons smaller, and arrange them how I like, but even that (eventually) passed.

By the time a Jailbreak for 12 comes out, 12 will be publicly released so you won't need a beta profile as you can simply upgrade to it from where you are now. If you then wanted to take part in, say, 12.1 betas then you can grab a new beta profile. But of course you'll then no doubt lose the Jailbreak as it'll probably work on 12.0 only.

From memory, even if they did have a Jailbreak they tend to wait until x.1 before releasing it, so you'll need to stay on 10 until iOS12.1 is public, and then upgrade. All assuming someone bothers with an iOS12 Jailbreak.

Thanks Adrian. You put it well. If/when they release a jailbreak, if I then uodate the firmware I'd no doubt lose the jb. Why have I not been thinking straight of late!!!

It'll become a personal mental struggle. Do you want the jailbreak or do you want the excitement of being part of the beta program? I used to be the former and am now the latter :)

If ios 12 JB is compatible with Consolidation, Activator and task bar icons, the definitely JB for me.

Also, there is a chance that jailbreak happens so late that by the time iOS 12 has jailbreak, people would have only a few days to upgrade to iOS 12 as iOS 13 is out. Just saying. :)

:D Yup. A bit like the recent 11 jailbreak!

No. IIRC you need to keep the beta profile to get the GM Wednesday/Thursday depending on if they day stagger PB from DB.
They seem to have shrunken the delay between then this summer. Some same day/time. So Id think simultaneous release.

I will be removing beta profile after GM loads so Ill be back on public, as I have no desire to get any 12.1bets.
