IOS 12: how to disable automatic screenlight?

What exactly do you mean by "automatic screenlight"?
If you are referring to brightness, you should be able to control that via options at Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations

You can easily control brightness. If you have an iPhone without home button:
Swipe down from right top corner, and use the brightness slider to turn down the brightness.
With home button: swipe up from the bottom of the screen, and use the brightness slider.
Alternatively, go into Settings > Display and Brightness > use the slider. Here you can also disable truetone or auto-brightness, if you must.
