I've been able to do that from my computer through the use of the "Files" app for a while now, is this new or just a different way of being able to do that? Sometimes the new features lauded at this event are really just refinements of old things.

Just out of interest, but kinda related to this. Does the inbuilt camera app allow you to save a RAW file yet or do you still have to use third party apps? I know you can save an HEIF image, but what about RAW, which is so much better for editing with in PP?

The Camera app in iOS 11 does not allow you to shoot in Raw. I use Halide which is very nice to use and gets good results, given the major limitations of a smart phone camera.

I don’t understand. I already import raw files from my camera’s SD card via the lightning card reader. What is it that’s new in 12?

I couldn't find out how anything changed either. Maybe iOS will just import raw without generating it's own JPEGs at import. Given we can already shoot raw, with camera apps that are nicer than Apple's, I don't see going back anyway.
