I noticed a change to when the celllar carrier's name is displayed on the top left corner of the screen on my iPhone, ever since updating to iOS 13.4.
In every version prior to 13.4, the carrier name would be displayed at top left only when cellular was enabled. As soon as you turned on Airplane Mode, the carrier name would disappear. (regardless of WiFi setting on or off).
Now in 13.4, if you turn Airplane mode ON (ie celllar OFF) and if WiFi is on, the carrier name is still displayed. It only disappears in Airplane mode now if WiFi is ALSO off. Note: I have WiFi calling turned OFF all the time, so this has nothing to do with that.
Because I usually turn cellular off / Airplane mode on in the evenings, but still have WiFi on, I noticed this change right away after the 13.4 update. Whenever I'd glance at my iPhone to do other things, it was always obvious whether I was in Airplane mode or not, without having to really look closely for the bars or tiny airplane logo. The other day I accidentally left my phone in Airplane mode all day - I'm still so used to seeing the carrier name there as indication cellular is on.
Is there any logical reason for this change, or is it just a bug?
