Hey there.
i was wondering if anyone gets the same issue
iphone7, beta tester ios13, my battery drains so quickly and totally overheats even if i'm only doing usual stuff. the optimized battery charing toggles back on even if i disable it completly.

any advice?

cheers from germany

Betas aren’t the best when it comes to battery life, but my 7 plus definitely hasn’t had the best battery life since starting the iOS 13 beta. But bad battery should be expected and that’s why Apple discourages people installing it on their daily driver.

No clue beyond the obvious: it's beta software... and typically, battery tuning comes at the end of the process (late beta releases) ... in the meantime, the software is capturing extra data via logging, etc... so there's more going on inside the device... and in my experience, with a new version of the OS, as we explore and test, we are using the device more than normal... just keep a charger handy and carry on.

Hey --

I'm not worried about the draining battery, it's the overheating that bothers me.
it wasn't that bad, until i tried to edit a video: flipping, cropping, trying to save it, but it froze, so I killed the app. I'm still unsure if it's still running somewhere in the background...
well.. let's see .. beta 3 will be on it's way soon i guess

cheers

As said above, lots of background processes are going on and that's part of the reason for the overheating.

most likely initially it will use more battery. slow off eventually. Personally on my XS, I have seen improved battery life and performance on public beta.
