I assume I need to update the watch to WatchOS6 beta to get the (new, but really any) Find My app on the watch? Is that correct?

I had the Find My app on my Series 4 AW on iOS12. When I went to the iOS 13 beta it disappeared. I assume (and hope) it will come back when WatchOS6 drops later this year (don't want to do a public beta on my watch)

Correct. Find My Friends is available on the Apple Watch pre-watchOS6 when your iPhone is pre-iOS13. If your iPhone is iOS13, you must be on watchOS6 to access the Find My app from your Apple Watch.
Never seen it on my watches. Are you sure theres an app for that on the Watch? Send a or link please.

As mentioned above iOS 13 and watchOS 5 showed Find My on watch
with watchOS 6 & iOS 13 the watch shows Find My Friends app and the notifications from the phone are also Find My Friends

Sorry. I thought you ment that there have been a find my iPhone app on the Watch with prior iOS and WatchOS version. That I have never seen...
Wait now I’m confused. I have iOS 13 and WatchOS 5. There is no Find My or Find My Friends app on the watch. What do you then mean by: “As mentioned above iOS 13 and watchOS 5 showed Find My on watch”? Also if I ask AWatch to find a friend it tells me it can’t.
Believe WatchOS 6 is needed. I'm in the same boat as you

I'm positive. I had it as a complication on my watch face. Since I updated to iOS13 I don't have it anymore so I can't show you. I'm still on Watch OS 5. I assume once I go to WatchOS 6 it will be back
