Might be too early to ask, but does anyone know what the minimum version of macOS will be for syncing? My MBP can't go past El Cap so hoping I don't have to buy a new one just to keep backing up my devices.

I want to know the exact same thing as well. I am on El Cap and cant go up and I sync all my music and photos via this Mac. Would be crazy if Apple wont allow me to sync my devices if I am not on Catalina...

When I plugged my XS Max running 13 into my 2011 MBP running High Sierra it prompted me that it needed a download on the laptop to support the new iOS revision on the phone.

This was last night and it didn't complete since that software package wasn't on apple's server.

Did it prompt you to download the latest Macos or a new High Sierra update to support the new iOS 13?

No. I am at the latest build for my machine.

It looked like it was trying to download a plug-in or ancillary extension for the iTunes version that is on my laptop. It couldn't finish.

What's interesting is that iTunes DOES see my iOS updated devices (three of them) via wireless synch, but they never finish completing that synch.

People are reporting they can sync later iOS 13 betas via iTunes in Mojave so I am hopeful I won’t need to buy a new Mac...
