ios 14.5, Find My app and Beats headphones

Has anyone else been able to add the original Beats Solo 3 headphones with the W1 chip as a new device in the Find My app? It says it should work here.

Works for my Powerbeats 3(rd-gen?) with the H1 chip.

Seems to want to have it connected before it works, but that kinds defeats the purpose . . . if I understand things correctly...

Did you have to make your beats discoverable first?

I had to power them On once to 'discover' them . . .

. . . now, they are located every time I power them on.
