iOS 14.7.1 on my iPhone X. It worked fine for 2 days, but now it is a mess.

I installed iOS 14.7.1 on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, onto my iPhone X. It worked fine for 2 days, but last evening and today, it is a mess.

If I am reading an article, it repeatedly goes back to the top of the article, and fights me scrolling back down. The ability to switch between apps by sliding up from the bottom, disappears and reappears randomly, the back arrow between texts is unresponsive, as is the forced reboot slide across over 50% of the time.

Am I the only one? Is it related to iOS 14.7.1 even, since it took two days to manifest?

It is driving me crazy!
 
More details would be helpful about each item:

1. Reading an article where? In an app? Which app? Is there an update for the app? On a website? Which website?
2. Switching between apps - from which app does the bottom bar disappear? Does it happen with multiple apps?
3. The back arrow between texts - which texts are those? In the Messages app? In a different app?

I have an iPhone xR on 14.7.1 and not experiencing what I think you may be describing, but I'd like to know as much detail as possible to try to help.

It appears you pasted the identical post in another forum, which is frowned upon. You can click the Report in that other forum and ask the moderators to delete the thread if no one has responded, or ask them to merge it with this one.
 
Iphone 11 user here. The phone has suddenly slowed down. Safari Scroll does not work in the first try. Maybe it is responsive in the second or third.

Safari webpages remains stuck and unresponsive. I have go home and them open it again. Not sure what is happening?

my battery is below 40% when this is occurring. Hopefully its a software issue

Yea, this slowdown issue started for me just now. The I updated phone on the day 14.7.1 was released, i recall the phone getting unusually hot after browsing the web for about an hour non stop using safari yesterday . But the unresponsive scroll started just now.

Even with the previous release, the general lag was noticed. But it magically went away after a couple of restarts.

I will restart a few more times and see what is happening

Good questions:

1. Any articles from Google news, but it also does it in apps like Facebook or Tumblr or even in text messages - bouncing top to bottom as I type.
2. The bottom bar does not disappear, it just is not responsive. Occasionally I can get it to respond if I hit the up or down volume button, but that is rare. Mainly I have to hit the right side button to close the phone, re-enter, and then it is responsive again.
3 in the message app. I answer a text to my wife, and try to go back to the main screen to text my daughter, and the arrow in the upper left corner is unresponsive.
4. Yesterday, when trying to force reboot, two different ways, the power of slider, from left to right, was unresponsive.

I did, and realized it was probably the wrong forum. I will get it removed or merged. Thank you.

Sounds really frustrating! Did anything else change on your phone after you updated to 14.7.1? Have you tried Reset All Settings?

I have reset all settings. No other additions, since upgrading. Plenty of room on the phone - about half the 256 available. I will add that when I lock the phone, the screen is not responsive to touch to turn on, I have to hit the the lock button again, and then the start screen appears and then FaceID works. Maybe it is time for a new phone.

So does seem like all of the issues are related to touch. I wouldn't jump to buy a new phone, but might make an Apple Store appointment to have it diagnosed in person.

I will do that. Thank you. Seems I am one of the few having issues so far.
 
The issue occurs after using safari for a while. Screen freeze, unresponsive to touch. No scroll etc.

If hit home and then reopen safari, same-page us responsive again.

maybe its a safari issue?

I rarely use safari. It happens in any app, or browser for me.
 
It looks like the upgrade had been messed. Is it possible to erase all contents and start new (not restore)?
 
I have used it for a few days now and its working fine on my XS, the missus installed it yesterday on her X and seems to run fine.
