Just tried to send a friend an Amazon link and the URL changed to an auto play video in iMessage. Basically I’m sending him a text link which auto coverts to an ad which auto plays in iMessage, without audio at least but still very annoying. Anyone know if it can be turned off? Thanks.

You can try to break link recognition by adding random characters in “http://“ or “https://“
There doesn’t seem to have a setting to turn this off.

Thanks for that. Yeah looks like as long as it’s a valid link it will try and load it. It isn’t just annoying it also takes longer to send vs a link, as it builds a video.

Fortunately it doesn’t seem to be all links, I just grabbed another from a different seller and it didn’t do it. Looks like this might be an Amazon annoyance instead of an Apple one. It’s like they can stick a promo video in the page that iMessage picks up and plays.
