Anyone else notice that the Smart Search Bar does’t work the same with iOS 14 on an iPad using an Apple Pencil. With iOS 13, it used to highlight and erase what was on the command line as soon as you started typing a new query. It now requires you to clear the command line then type your query. Seems to work using your fingers but not with the pencil with Scribble turned off.

Any suggestions on how to fix or is this a bug. I’m using an original pencil on an iPad Pro 10.5 and have turned off Scribble.

Mine works in iPadOS 14 like you describe for iPadOS 13: tap in the search bar highlights the current content and erases as soon as I start typing something new. I'm using the Magic Keyboard and maybe that's the difference.

Thanks for the reply. It works as you describe if you use a keyboard or your fingers. Doesn’t work that way for me using an Apple Pencil. I edited my original post to clarify.

I have the same issue using iPad Pro 10.5 and the original Apple Pencil. Very annoying 1st world problem, but it should be fixed nonetheless in a bug fix update hopefully. I forget every single time, and always have to go through another sequence of steps to bring in a page that was a dead easy process before.

I downloaded the Chrome app until this is fixed, annoyance is gone and chrome works fine with pencil on my iPad.
