hello,
I understand the new iOS 14 widgets for the home screen but when I go to the Today view by swiping far left underneath the widgets there is another bunch of widgets which have transparent backgrounds. Does anyone know what they are and how they are different from normal widgets? thanks

Sound like you are talking about widgets that have been there since iOS 8 days, what would now be considered the "old" or "classic" widgets, while the ones that iOS 14 brings are the "new" ones. The old widgets can only exist on the Today View page, and while they can't be resized or placed on home pages there various ones that offer more than the "new" widgets can.

Thanks C DM,
i attached a screenshot. i can still add them or delete them from view. Didn’t know that they were older widgets. one even includes a seg control which give it a lot more features. thanks for the insight
