I stupidly updated to iOS 15 and it broken hotspot functionality. I have 10.6.8 installed on a MacMini for testing needs, and I used iPhone Wi-Fi hotspot to connect it to internet. Now it sees iPhone as 802.1x network and asks for User Name and Password (of course there is no User Name in reality, only Password).
PowerBook G4 sees the same and cannot connect either.
Any chance to fix?
Or I should try downgrading back to iOS 14 which worked okay?

You can't downgrade. The only version of iOS that Apple is signing is 15.3.1.. Apple is releasing 15.4 next week so you can either do a full restore using iTunes to see if your issues are corrected (15.3.1) or wait till 15.4 and update to that.

It seems to be a common problem with those older macOS versions, also on regular routers that use Wifi protocols that are "too new" somehow. A shame the iPhone 8 doesn't have that setting.

I'm curious, what are you testing? 10.6.8 is 11 years old, that's quite vintage! ?
