I really wish Apple would let us set more than 2 alerts for a calendar event in iOS.

For years, we've been able to set more than 2 alerts in the macOS Calendar!

This artificial limitation is the only reason I find myself keeping Fantastical on my phone.

Is this really asking too much???

How do you work around this limitation?

Only workaround I can think of is to create a duplicate event and add alerts to it as well (so a total of 4 different alerts). Or of course add more alerts to a single event later when you can use Calendar on macOS. Agreed it's stupid.

I work around this by using Google hosted calendars and setting multiple default alerts at the web interface that get applied to every event no matter what app I use to create the event.
