So, I have iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 8 at home, all of which are virtually brand new (unusual situation, I know, but don't ask). All three used to work just fine with three of my wireless chargers: a dirt-cheap 10W Chinese charger, a more expensive 20W Xiaomi charger and equally expensive forgot-the-brand Chinese charger. And ALL of the iPhones have started showing strange behaviour with two of the chargers after updating to iOS 16 from iOS 15. The Xiaomi 20W wireless standing charger gives a blinking LED signal about twice a day that goes away after I replace the phone on the stand (or replug the charger's power cable). The cheapest charger occasionally blinks its red LED to indicate a fault and then gets just fine after I replace the phone. The overall behaviour of the three phones with the three chargers is rather inconsistent and without an evident pattern. I tried force rebooting all of the iPhones to no avail.
Have you guys seen some similar behaviour with your phones after the recent update? It obviously can't have anything to do with a particular phone or charger being faulty. It seems like the iOS 16 has messed up the compatibility of the phones with third-party chargers (actually, I don't have the original Magsafe charger to tell for sure).
I'm on the verge of just covering up the power LED on my Xiami charger and never giving a heck again, as I don't need that much charging anyway (home officing here). Do you think a phone sitting on a charger that occasionally refuses to charge it for prolonged periods could cause some damage in the long term? Unlikely, but just making sure.
Also, I'll be trying to disable the optimized charging option for testing.
