Upgraded to iOS 17 on my iPhone 11 this week.

I have noticed that my watch series 1 is now no longer communicating with the iPhone or vice versa. None of the activity is syncing and the watch app displays an error saying it cannot communicate with the watch.

On the watch itself, the control centre indicates a connection to the phone but anything that requires internet connectivity does not seem to work. The weather app and news is not updating and Siri won’t work. I submitted a bug via the feedback app.

Now I know I can revert back to iOS 16 but I suppose the question is have Apple ended support for older versions of the watch in iOS 17 or is this likely to be just a bug? Does anyone else have this issue? I’m reluctant to unpair the watch in case it won’t re-pair again.

Not too bothered about this if it is just a bug as I can wait for it to be fixed but if they have ended support then I might need to look at upgrading my watch.

I'm not surprised that Apple may be setting minimum WatchOS requirements.
It wouldn’t surprise me either as it must be annoying to keep supporting them indefinitely. Would be interesting to know if others have the same issue.
