Before iOS 17 was announced, Apple announced accessibility features that were coming soon for iPhone users; one of them was personal voice; a feature that would create a digital copy of your voice so if you ever lost the ability to speak your iPhone could talk for you in (a close approximation of) your voice.

I setup this feature by reading about 30 minutes worth of sentences, my phone processed those recordings and made a voice for me that while sounding close, was still very much robotic when saying a few sentences.

Weird thing is now when I went in to look at the voice settings (settings/accessibility/personal voice) it said I needed to record more dialogue even though it already had compiled my audio into a voice.

I’m wondering if since it’s beta it is buggy, or does it want to keep an updated version so it has me record more stuff.

Anyone else try personal voice?

I don’t have that specific issue, but the Personal Voice is supposed to sync between devices. I went through all the recording on my iPad, but trying the personal voice on my iPhone, it says I have 150 phrases left to record (on beta 1, I think it was saying 5 minutes left or something). Was kind of hoping beta 2 would sync the rest of the recordings over.

For me it doesnt even show up on the other devices at all.

Yes, I’ve gone through the voice training, have a voice file but it doesn’t appear in live read. Just the two inbuilt voices are there. Bugs, Eh?
Yup. I'm hoping it shows up after Beta 3 comes out. I don't NEED this feature but it's something cool I was excited to play with. I'm just hoping I don't have to teach it my voice all over again because that was annoying as hell!

anyone find a solution to the not sharing across iCloud? not to go too much in detail, i lost all speaking abilities. i gave my son my iPad and he recorded his voice for me. it works fine on my iPad, honestly sounds good. but although i have the toggle on to share across devices, it doesn't appear on my iPhone. when i look at settings on each device, im signed into the same iCloud on both and i can see both devices on each. im trying to avoid asking him to do it again on my iPhone. any clues are appreciated. iOS 17 dev beta 7 on each.

I can't figure out why they're not syncing either. I couldn't get it to process on my phones (iPhone Pro Max 14 and iPhone Pro Max 13). Went through the recording on both, then it just sat at 0% for both for days, no matter what I did. I then re-recorded the voices on my MacBook Pro and within minutes it had processed and prepared the voice, and it works on my MacBook Pro (I used a Hyperex Solo Mic to record it in s very sound dampered room, and it actually sounds scarily like me.

Now I'm seeing that it shows on my iPhone 14, but it's stuck at the 0%, and on the iPhone 13 it doesn't show at all. So can use it on my Mac, but that's it.

maybe you did this, but you have to keep the iphone plugged in for it to process the voice. on my ipad it took several hours, like six. it had to be plugged in and charging the whole time.

Yep, i've got several phones, and left them plugged in for DAYS. Eevn tried the reboot while charging, and all the other tips on here. Not sure if it's something with iCloud sync or what.

i agree with you on the quality though. i make a text to speech app and i have it working with the personal voice. my son recorded his voice and it sounds just like him.

Funny part is having recorded it on my macbook pro, it's the perfect recording.

You know the Export Audio Files? How does that work? If they have an export, one would assume the purpose is to save someone's voice then use it at a later time, so wouldn't there be a way to import it on another device? When someone figures that out I think it'll save all our issues.

My guess is the reason it's not processing the voice has something to do with a permission or privacy setting one of us will realize we have on and resolve it.

I know it's been about a month since this topic was active, but I am having the same issue with my Personal Voice not syncing to other devices, but this is not beta versions. Recorded it on the release version on September 30th, it completed and added to my iPhone overnight on October 1st, and by October 5th it hasn't shown up on my Mac running Sonoma.

I've rebooted both the phone and the Mac several times (overall, not just to resolve this issue), turned off "Share Across Devices" and then turned it back on, but it never appears on the Mac. Has anyone run into a way this actually works?

Edit: disregard. I did not see the part where Apple Silicon was required for the Mac (I am on an Intel Mac mini).
