iOS 18.0.1 (22A3370): Toggle button for SMS forwarding (iOS Settings app > Apps > Messages > SMS Forwarding) in iPhone appears if a iPhone (formatted/ setup as new ) is logged in to iCloud after the macOS device, but the toggle button does not appear if the macOS device is logged in later than the iPhone.
Messages in iCloud are switched On for all devices, and all devices are on latest iOS, iPadOS, macOS.
Instead of the toggle button, a grayed out text "On" shows up against the macOS device which has logged in to iCloud/ Messages in iCloud after the iPhone has logged in.
The grayed out text "On" also displays the following text below that:

"These devices can automatically forward SMSes when Messages in iCloud is turned on."

This issue occurs only for macOS devices, and not iPad or other iPhones connected to the same iCloud ID.
However, the toggle button appears for SMS forwarding (iOS Settings app > Apps > Messages > SMS Forwarding) in iPhone against any device logged in to Apple account in the following conditions:

1.) the iPhone is restored as new and logged on to the iCloud ID, after the other macOS device was logged in to iCloud with same ID. In other words, the iPhone and Messages in iCloud are logged on in the last out of all devices; or

2.) the messages in iCloud is toggled "Off" in the respective other macOS device.

Perhaps the above condition (2) is emanating out of the Apple support article https://support.apple.com/en-in/102545, but the condition at (1) definitely does not seem to have any basis.

Anyone else?
