Has any users in EU could activate Apple Intelligence features? If you could, how did you do that? What do you think about Apple’s restrictions even though region and language is set to US?

I have had an US Apple Account since the iPod Video days to get free TV Pilot episodes from iTunes back in the day and it is working fine but I also hardly use it? 😅 I just forget it's even there because the features aren't really "in your face" so I keep doing everything as I have always done them you know?

All you need is an Non-EU Apple Account and the OS set to a supported language (English for now). They don't geolocate you or anything.

It is also of limited use since I can't use it in my native language obviously.

I find it confusing. So in the UK, do we need to wait until December for the AI features?
If so, what will 18.1 actually be tomorrow?

We are also considered to be non-EU these days.

When I was in Norway during summer break, Apple Intelligence and iPhone mirroring worked well. When I came back home, they were gone. I think as UK is not in EU, once you change the region, you will have AI.

18.2 beta allows UK region to select for AI
18.1 RC only has the US and no other regions.

I have a slim hope that today, Apple will allow non-USA regions available for 18.1 writing tools at least.

Let's see - few hours to go!

Why did you change your region when you are on a summer break in another country? Also, Norway is not in the EU either.

well I have just installed 18.1 in the UK and it says sorry you cant have apple intelligence as iphone is set to English (UK). So I guess no fancy Siri and no hearing aid thing and we are not even in the EU anymore....

It doesn’t matter that we are not in the EU anymore, Apple Intelligence is only available in US English at the moment. Other localised languages will be available on 18.2. This has been news for some time. You can change you language/region to US English to activate AI if you want.

The Date In April for the EU means of Couse:

We get it sooner in Beta around February/March

i knew that some of the real fancy stuff was going to come later in december. I did not think that the basic siri stuff like the new animation was included in the later roll out for uk english.

To get Apple Intelligence, language and region should be US. But as I was in EU, it wasn’t working. But during my visit in Norway(which is not a EU country), it started working.
