[iOS 18.1] Call recording missing

Hello,
Yesterday I have upgraded my iPhone to iOS 18.1, but I just noticed that the Call recording icon is missing from the call screen, nor I was able to find and activate the subjected option under Settings - Apps - Phone.
Apple states that the feature should be available in my region (https://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/#phone-call-recording).
Is there anything else I missed?

After you updated to 18.1, did you enable AI?

Settings->Apple Intelligence Siri->Join Waitlist

Call recording itself is not an AI feature, only transcript summaries.

I would try temporarily changing the region to the United States and see if it gets the toggle to appear (if you're not on it already).
 
Thanks for the tip but still, according to Apple, the feature should be already available without changing the region.
 

Record and transcribe a call on iPhone

On iPhone, you can record a call and view a transcription of the call.

Sometimes there are bugs that make things not show up and swapping regions can fix it. They also may have made an error with your specific region/language settings. It's hard for me to isolate the problem with the information you have given.
 
That is a bit strange, it supports Romanian but is not available in Romania. Apple Intelligence is supposed to come to the EU in April so hopefully this feature will be available by then.

It records the call, but there’s no option to see the transcript?

UK English is not supported. Call transcription is currently available in either Australian or American English.

If you want to try it now you can either change your language or you can just export the recordings from Notes into Voice Memos and generate a transcript from there.
