I normally jump on betas pretty much on day one, but just wanted to know if there is anything people consider broken that would stop them suggesting it as a daily driver.

Yes I know beta, test device etc. but we have selective hearing when it comes to that.

So what's broken in beta 1 that's made you either revert to 17, or will cause you real pain until beta 2 drops?

One person seemed to have an issue with IMAP connected email. Otherwise that only major bug I've seen or read about on here is that you have to change your notifications on the lock screen to stack or count for now, otherwise notifications aren't reliable.

Otherwise, it's just been occasional silly little nuisances that I've seen. Everything works remarkably well.

I don't think this is a year where you can wait until July or August and expect a more stable beta, because all of the AI features aren't there yet. We might get a month of slight improvements and bug fixes and then they tack on all the new stuff mid-summer and everything breaks. Who knows? The first beta is a little unpolished in a few areas, but very usable.

Widgets placed in a stack doesn’t seems to work well. Also my podcasts keep jumping back to the beginning every time I get back into my car.

The person with the IMAP issue is me.

It doesn't appear to be affecting anyone else, so don't let that put you off!

By the way, you could always try to contact your provider, explain the issue and ask them if they see anything in their logs. I'm sure someone at their office will also have the beta installed, and they can check it out. It's for sure some weird SSL/TLS setting, some certificate issue, stuff like that. If they're a good hosting provider they can solve it.

Shortcuts is really broken so far.
I have a shortcut that grabs a random photo from my library, saves it to a iCloud folder and sets it as my wallpaper (My Mac gets the same photo every morning). Everything works in it except for actually setting it as a wallpaper. It's just a very bright green photo that can be manually fixed by going into the lock screen customization and hitting done.

My other regular shortcut is on my watchOS beta. I have an action button list - nothing in that list is tappable.

At this point, I feel like it's completely normal for Shortcuts to break during every one of these summer beta periods. Something happens every year.

Good point. I'm currently back on 17.5.1 (as the new home-screen and control centre stuff didn't excite me enough to have to put up with installing another email app) but I'll give the next beta a go and get in touch (34sp.com are a brilliant host with great support) if it fails again.

Hmmm I use shortcuts so may hold off for a while. Thanks.

It’s saying the screen on my IPP 13” is unsupported but that doesn’t really bother me. My iCloud mail only seems to arrive if I open the mail app on my IPP.

Clock gets “stuck”. I noticed just now the longest 9:47 I’ve ever seen in my life and saw it go directly from 9:47 to 9:49.
