I have an iPhone 12 Pro with recycled display from other dead iPhone 12 Pro.
Once updated to iOS 18, I got repair assistance and now the display no longer shows as unknown parts.
Parts and Repair history shows the display as used and recycled parts.
I think this is giant step forward with repairability. As far as I know, if you cycles original Apple Parts, no functionality would be lost.
I will test more with iPhone with actual third party parts.
