Hello all, is anyone else’s opinion that the “new” Photos app is an absolute pile of dog fudge? It is confusing, not applicable, and overall trash. Wth would anyone release this thing?? If anyone has more news on the topic is there an update coming any time soon to undo this dumpster fire? Thanks

Has been discussed several times… you can still customize it to your liking, working in the settings

as others have said, this has been discussed at length elsewhere.

Not sure why we needed another thread on your subjective opinion of change...

But I would encourage you to take a few minutes to learn what's changed and then understand how it works and in fact, its not all that different at all.

Hyperbolic statements such as it being 'a dumpster fire' are vastly inaccurate. You have a new, highly customisable interface which you will be able to adjust to your liking.

Give it a go. It's not changing back.

Nope. I have to jump into pinned collections, recently saved, to find the image that was Airdropped to me a few days ago.

Now if it was on the same day, you can still go into "Recent days" and find it there. And that's what I thought today, but having gone through the different days, I still couldn't find it. It was only after looking it up then I realised it was hiding under pinned collections. And it wasn't dated on the day that it was sent to me in December, it was sorted under the date that the image was created, which was in November.

And in the process of trying to make my point, I've somehow managed to accidentally go into "memory mixed".

I know it's not changing back, but it is a dumpster fire.

If you take its default state most people dont like it, but as others mentioned in this thread if you customize it it becomes quite nice.
Thankfully I barely use the Photos app, so I’m not that bothered by the change. However, even after customizing it, the new UI still sucks. I’m glad it works for you, but it’s a massive downgrade for some of us. The previous tabbed view of library and albums was great.

How can I manually sync photos to iCloud - I used to be able to swipe up to force photos to sync and that option appears to be missing in iOS 18
