Hi all!
I'm heading to the backcountry this weekend, and know that iOS 26 will have 'weather updates via satellite', where in addition to satellite texting/emergency SOS, you can also request weather updates via satellite when you don't have any cellular connection.

Does anyone running the beta know if this feature is live yet? I'd rather not upgrade until final release, but really could use emergency weather updates this weekend and will update to the public beta if this feature is working.

Thanks!

It's a great question. I have no idea but if this is live I need to update my phone before I go hiking off the grid this weekend. That said I'm pretty sure it won't be live until release... just a hunch though.

There's also some questions about whether Apple is pushing weather data via satellite only to their own weather app or also to the weather API which some other apps use, meaning potentially multiple apps could receive weather data via satellite if that's how Apple implemented it. Time will tell...
