ios 3 and first gen touch

do i still have to purchase ios 3 for my first gen touch?

i don't think so. I could freely install ios3 on my 1st gen when i had it (during the ios4 days)

Plus there are IPSW's floating around i'd imagine

Just use iTunes to update
