Good news. I think I'm going to install the beta on the iPad, I want to try multitasking and folders on that big screen. :p

i guarentee the beta will get released same day 4.1 drops or a week later to the day.

I agree. Once the 4.1 update has gone public we will see a 4.2 beta within days or the following week. Should be interesting to see how 4.2 works on the iPad. 4.2 will be the first time all ios devices will be in tandem with each other by using the same software. Should be a great update.

4.2 will be applied to iPhone and iPod touch as well, so you won't see a beta until 4.1 is final.

Will it be possible to find the 4.2 beta ipsw file "somewhere" and the install it through iTunes?

Yes and yes! (only if u have the device registered on a developers account as a test device)

Betas are buggy of course, but never so serious that it will totally mess up your device, and they get better (generally) with each release. One can always downgrade if it causes too much distress.

So you can't simply install it on an iPad? The iPad must be registered as testing device? :(

Please read more carefully. I already stated that the device has to be registered by a developer to work.

ie...the UDID of that particular device most be one of the 100 devices a developer is allowed on his/her account. Only then will betas work. Otherwise it will appear as an error in iTunes/Xcode when trying you are trying to install it.

Can't really be much clearer.
