Probably my biggest problem with the ipad (which otherwise I absolutely adore) is that tabs reloading issue in Safari. From what I understand, this is a caching issue (presumibly, safari isn't allocated enough cache space to cache more than two of three tabs.)

Has anyone tried this in iOS 4.2 to see if it is fixed?

Other threads already answered it, but yes it solves the issue. The tabs don't reload unless you run out of memory and the OS makes calls to free up memory for the current task. So if you open some tabs, and then go play Plants vs Zombies and look at some photo slideshows and play videos etc, it might cause them to reload (just like it might force some apps to clear their cache so the have to restart on launch even though they are in the task switcher). This is true of iOS 4.x on the iPhone as well, although the extra memory in the iPhone 4 helps a little more compared to the iPad.

After a few hours use, I can say that the issue is greatly improved - when switching tabs within safari I haven't really seen any re-loading.

However upon quitting safari and running a couple of other apps, the pages did reload when I went back to them.
So it does still happen, but I'd say that the main annoyance of it is pretty much gone :)

I will test opening a LOT of tabs, and switching between...
