So I saw that iOS 4.3 beta is also for the tv 2.

Do you think it will bring something new to it? or just enhanced AirPlay?

Ohhhh..

Ohh... okay. That's cool. So how much better is the AirPlay now.. it's pretty laggy right now.. And how can I update the iOS?

Only enhancement currently is AirPlay. I have it installed. :D

Can you verify that it has some HSMI settings options, that will help those of us who have had handshake issues.

The Beta had them, and I don't know of any reason why it would have been taken out. I think the option is somewhere in settings.

They seem to have fixed the issue with subtitle sizes with the latest beta of 4.3. Netflix subs is not available as far as I know but it seems they have added DD 5.1 audio in Netflix now...

Fix for subtitles? (currently it is tiiiiiiiiny!)

Subtitles support for Netflix?

so iOS 4.3 can only push the audio/video from apps, not the entire app's content, right? I'm pretty sure this is true, but I've heard rumors across other boards in the past couple days, so I thought i'd double check

I can download the aTV beta 2, but am wondering if my aTV needs to be registered with apple to use it like other iOS devices? Want to airplay me some video!

Netflix updated?

Can anyone confirm the earlier post about IOS 4.3 bringing Netflix DD5.1 to the ATV2? I have not heard of this previously and would be my justification for replacing my ATV1. Also, does the extra bandwidth needed noticeably affect the streaming experience?

Just checked a few HD titles and none of them currently play with 5.1 audio.

Maybe it's movie specific, but the ones I've tried do not have DD.

Not all shows/films that are available in HD seem to have 5.1 but there are some specific TV shows at least (all seasons of Lost) that have the DD icon along side the HD icon when you browse the interface...

Just spotted it for Lost, nice catch.

Can someone with the 4.3 beta check whether there is a 50z option for TV output, like AppleTV 1. Thanks.

There seems to have been quite a few unpublished changes here and there in 4.3 for the ATV2. Good to know that they are constantly updating it along with all the other iOS devices now. Doesn't seem to be much of a "hobby" anymore to me. Netflix in 5.1 is very welcome. My PS3 is really starting to collect dust now for anything other than an occasional game. lol.
