iOS 4 for the iPad better be great, or I am staying with 3

I am honestly not that impressed with iOS 4 on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

given the ipad's svelte 256mb of ram, Apple better highly optimize 4 to be well faster than the current version 3 available for the iPad.

When 4 does come out I will wait quite a good while before upgrading, if I upgrade at all.

I really do not like how Apple makes it near impossible to downgrade to a lower version of iOS.

Honestly, faux multi-tasking and folders is not enough for me to upgrade to 4.

I want absolutely no performance hits on my iPad and if 4 is not noticeably FASTER than 3 i'll be staying put.

I like folders a lot.

The "multi-tasking" on iPhone or iPad is much ado about nothing
if you ask me. So far, the only task multiplied for me is clearing
out the tray on my iP4 every once in a while.

I know what you mean about the multi tasking. I never really use it, much preferred double click for the iPod controls. Hopefully printing support will come though and there is some other features in iOS4 like the merged inboxes in mail

I find myself wishing quite a lot of times that 4.0 was out now for the iPad, for multitasking. And folders on my Touch is enough for me to upgrade and enjoy it. But folders on the iPad doesn't work, too much space.

I can see what you mean but also with the multi tasking bar. Will that work the same way as on the iPhone? Or will it be different as you can use the iPad in any orientation.

If iOS 4 slows the iPad down even in the smallest way, I am not upgrading.

I think Apple knows that for the iPad they need something special with iOS4, and I bet anything that it will have some features that are not included in the iPhone/iPod touch version. Apple also knows it is dealing with a device with only 256MB of ram...

I expect the implementation of iOS4 to be completely different on the iPad, such as expose instead of the taskbar for multitasking. That's why it's taking this extra time to release it. I also expect it'll bring additional features, like wireless printing.

IT's takes longer to release it because the iPhone OS team didn't know in advance about the iPad. It's Steve's crazy secrecy.

iOS 4 works just great on my wife's 3GS. I don't expect the iPad to do any less.

Ok sounds like you must have either a iPhone 3G or iPhone 1st Gen.(or an iPod Touch 1st gen or 2nd gen)
Because it seems you have had trouble with the iOS4.
