Has anyone else had this problem with updating to iOs 5.0.1 on the iPhone 4S?

All the text messages I previously had on my phone are still present, but they are just listed under phone numbers instead of contacts (eg, names) autopopulating. Also, new text messages I have received have been starting their own, new threads instead of continuing on previous ones.

How can I handle this?

This is totally strange! My text messages are fine but my caller IDs all come up as numbers and not the names in my contacts like it used to... this is really annoying considering the restore says it's going to take 90 minutes!! Damn!

After updating to iOS 5 (not 5.0.1) all of my contacts in the phone appeared to be gone. Turns out they were still in the phone, just missing from the contact list. Accessed one of my contacts via a text message I had, edited the contact information and saved the changes. At that point all my contacts were once again showing in my contact list. I know what you are experiencing is not the same thing, but perhaps editing a contact and saving the changes might have some impact on your contact information then being displayed correctly in the phone throughout.

I noticed this on a couple of iPhones. If you go into iCloud settings, turn off Contacts sync to the iCloud - and then turn it back on again, all the contacts return to normal.

It's a bug...
